First time I went, I got the brownie tasting. The brownies were okay and just what you´d expect of a brownie, the stroopwafel blondie however was fantastic, caramelly delicous! Definitely don't skip their lunch items though. I got the vegan rendang and it looked and tasted like a fancy restaurant meal :) I didn´t love the coffee, but the fact that you get a tiny brownie with your hot beverage is really cute. What I love most about brownies and downies is the small interactions with the servers.

Lovely place for a bite to eat but I'll warn you its get super busy around lunchtime. Coffee is great (but everywhere in Netherlands is better than UK) Menu seems to update regularly. Not sure if thats a continuous thing or just the months I was there. Really worth a visits. Well priced, delicious food

Gorgeous space inside the cafe with the option for seats inside. Great options for iced tea and different coffees, really extensive drinks list with more than the usual coke & sprite etc. the brownies were lovely, fudgey consistency with great options of toppings. Great friendly service & really spacious inside which isn’t common in NL! Would definitely return. We didn’t try any of the savoury food but it looked amazing from what we saw of other peoples meals.

Lovely lunch here. Beautiful, large space with huge windows to the outside greenery. Exyrnsive menu. Cappuccino came with whipped sweetened cream and a wee cake. Fried egg sandwich was large, on beautiful brown bread, with nice mixed greens with seeds. Ham & cheese toastie was similarly delish. But the best part was the spirit and heart that was so evident in what they do. The staff with Down Syndrome are often helped or coached by the other staff, but there's always time for hugs or silly things. You should stop in!

Visiting Haarlem from Canada and heard this place was lovely so we tried it out. It was wonderful! I got the caramel iced coffee and stroopwafel blondie, they were super yummy. My husband had the bitterballen which were excellent with the mayo/Mustard dip! Staff were so friendly and chatty. 10/10 would visit again!

Perfect restaurant for a meal! Ideal for a lunch break during a stroll through beautiful Haarlem. Great food selection and delicious dishes. The fries there are fantastic! The brownie shop across the street offers a selection of delicious brownies to take home. A visit is simply a must-do for any visit to Haarlem!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely Wonderful Brunch at Brownies & downieS Haarlem! My husband and I had brunch here, and everything was perfect from start to finish. The food was beautifully presented, fresh, and full of flavor. We tried several dishes — a warm, comforting soup with soft bread and dip, a vibrant chicken salad packed with color and crunch, delicious loaded fries with pulled meat, and a flatbread topped with tangy red onions and cabbage. Every bite was thoughtfully made and absolutely delicious. We finished with a cappuccino served on a little wooden tray with whipped cream and a brownie bite — such a charming touch! The atmosphere was cozy, welcoming, and full of warmth — you can really feel the heart behind this place. The service was kind, attentive, and genuinely caring. It’s clear the team takes pride in what they do. Highly recommend Brownies & downieS Haarlem for anyone looking for a relaxed, feel-good brunch spot with amazing food and even better people. We’ll definitely be back!
